Monthly Music Update
It’s that time again. Time for an update on my iTunes statistics. I don’t think too much has changed within the last month (find that post here) but I think I added maybe one more CD.
Music
Movies
TV Shows
Podcasts
iTunes U
Books
Apps
There are quite a few new albums coming out in the next month or so that I want to pick up so I may see a bigger change when I do this in September.
Monthly Music Mayhem
As is evident by the title, I kinda want to make this a monthly thing. Basically, I’ll take snapshots of my iTunes library and see how it grows (or possibly shrinks) from month to month. Pretty simple really. So, to quote a great friend: “Here we go!”
Music
That's a lot of music!
Movies
Not much here, I generally rent movies.
TV Shows
Biggest part of my library.
Podcasts
Podcasts are my life.
iTunes U
These make me smart!
Books
And I don't even have an iPad.
Apps
Apps are the second part of my life.
And that’s about all there is to it. I did this every once in a while on Twitter but now hopefully I’ll be able to see some real change in my library month-to-month.
iWant. iNeed. iPhone.
Ok, the title basically says it all. I really, really, really, really, want iPhone 4. It would be a nice replacement for my aging 2nd generation iPod touch and I would be able to run iOS 4 fully on the device. I know I’ve been wanting an iPad for a long time now too – and I still do think it would be a productive addition to my daily life, but I’ve been earning “Pointz” on Lockerz.com contact me if you want an invite!) for a while now, and in the next few months, I should have enough to get an iPad.
Right now, I’m going to focus my money saving efforts towards a 16GB White iPhone 4. I’ve looked at all the plans and various rates available from AT&T and I’m thinking I could probably get away with just under $70 a month for my cell phone plan. I use next to no phone minutes per month so the lowest plan they have is a $40 450 minute plan. Data plans are $15 for 200MB and $25 for 2GB, both absolute rip-offs but I could probably live on the 200MB per month since my lifestyle keeps me within some sort of Wi-Fi enabled place most of the time anyway (and I’m used to being limited to Wi-Fi only by having an iPod touch for so long). Worst case scenario – I have to go up to the 2GB but I don’t see that happening too often. Finally, texting. I honestly don’t text as much as I used to and the $5 200 texts per month plan would probably do me. If I ever run into trouble, I’m trying to move people (and myself) to my Google Voice number which has free SMS (using your phone’s data – but again, I plan to be on Wi-Fi a majority of the time). And even if that doesn’t work, the $15 1500 texts per month is WAY more than I’ll ever use so that’s always an option.
As far as money, I’m looking for outlets to sell my iPod shuffle that has barely been used and I may even part with my iPod touch since I wouldn’t need it any more. The iPod touch is in a little worse condition than I would like, but people like buying these for parts anyway, right?
I’m hoping to have one by the end of the year but who knows what might happen. All I know is that I’m going to be lusting over this for a long, long time.
Time Warp
Where did the time go? It’s already April and I only have 4 weeks of school left? Wow, that went fast. What’s been going on since I’ve been here? Well, too much to write about but some of the big things: Calc Test #2- 98%, Computer Test #2- 96%, Econ Test #2- 100%, Music Test #2- 102%, Calc Test #3- 100%! Not too bad. I also went on a shopping spree and bought a bunch of “new” games. Found 5 DS games that I’ve been wanting on eBay and bought them all! Now I just have to find the time to get through them all.
Really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, want an iPad now – especially after playing with it (multiple times!). I just don’t have the money….I honestly think this is more than just me wanting an Apple product. I really believe I would be much more productive with this thing. Reading books on this thing would be amazing – and I may not even had to bring my MacBook home this weekend had I had the iPad, I could have just composed my paper on the device. Man, that would be nice. Oh well, someday…
Another week
Had two tests last week – Music and Computer. I got a 103% on the Music test, but I haven’t got the computer one back yet. I fell pretty confident about that one though. Econ test tomorrow, not terribly worried about that, but I need to study a little more. The one I am worried about is my 2nd Calc test next week. This weekend is going to be study, study, study!
I’ve actually been coping pretty well without Twitter. I missed it for the first couple of days and now I don’t miss it as much. There are times when I almost text something to Twitter but I catch myself. We’ll see how I feel after Easter, but I’m actually not dying without Twitter yet.
I don’t know what else to write except that I just wish it would finally get warm and stay that way. I’m soooooo sick of the cold weather and the snow.
Sacrifices
I can’t believe that this Wednesday is already Ash Wednesday! It feels so early this year. But that’s just how the calendar fell. I have made a very important decision this year about what I’m going to give up for Lent. I Have decided to remove myself from the Twitter Universe for 40 days. Yes, I am giving up Twitter for Lent.
Lazy Weekend
I really don’t have much (if any) homework to do this weekend. My ‘biggest’ project was just writing about a move we watched in “Fiction into Film” and I got that done Friday afternoon. So today was filled with video games, reading, and wasting time on the internet. I watched the documentary “Welcome to Macintosh” tonight as well. A little short but one of the best documentaries I’ve seen. Rent it!
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! I just found out I got a 94% on my first Calc II test! I knew I messed up on a few things and was hoping for about an 80-85% when I came out of the test. But a 94% is great! My weekend just got so much better! Honestly, the average was way better than I expected as well: 59%.
I’m getting ready for the big storm tomorrow as well. We are expected to get around 8-12″. I’m a little sick of the snow at this point but I can’t really do much about that. At least it will give me an excuse to stay inside and watch TV. Oh, you say the Super Bowl is on? I barely remembered. For some reason I’m not terribly excited about it this year. I’ll probably tune in and watch some of it though.
Finally, I’ve gotten into reading the paper lately. I have never really ‘read the paper’ before, save for the Comics. But it’s really great here on campus because all of us students are able to get The New York Times, USA Today, and a few other local papers all for free every day. I’ve gotten into the habit of picking up USA Today (and more recently NYTimes) and reading through it at the library when I have some down-time.
By-far the best email I’ve ever received!
Ok, so we all get the emails saying that we have so-many-million-dollars left to us in someone’s estate. Today, I got one of the longest and I think most convincing one of these emails. I just wanted to share it with you in full here.
Greetings.

My favorite quotes: “died…in a ghastly motor accident”; “I will not be able to check my emails from my sick bed.”; “the doctor has confirmed that I only have a few weeks left on this earth.”
My predictions for the Apple tablet
Name: Apple Pad
Size: 9-11.5″
OS: Enhanced iPhone OS but not very recognizable as iPhone OS. Some features being as powerful as full Mac OS X features.
Price: $799 for base model (32GB, LCD screen); $899 for more storage (64GB, LCD screen); $949 for 64GB and OLED screen
Available: March or May-June
General things: Will integrate tightly with iPhone OS 4.0, thus Apple will be showing off 4.0 as well. 4.0 will ship in “late spring or early summer.” Apple will also announce iLife ’10 and maybe iWork ’10 with enhanced features centered around the tablet and its technology. The tablet will also be connected with the cell networks so it is online all the time, much like the Amazon Kindle is right now.
That’s all I have for now. I may update later this week with some more ‘info’. Needless to say, I am super excited for what we get to see next Wednesday. Though I will undoubtably not be able to afford what Apple reveals for quite some time (or may not even want it for that mat- what am I saying? I don’t even know what it is and I want it!) I can’t wait to see their ‘latest creation’!
Incase you missed it, here’s the invite for the event:
